How to Control Your Computer from Android
If you are away from your computer and want to do something on it, don’t worry as you can control your computer from your Android phone. Android Market has a variety of software applications which you can use as per your requirements. In this article, we are going to discuss the method with which you can get control over your PC from your Android phone. We are not going to explain the procedure in a complex way so that you may be able to understand it easily.

Go to Android Market and search for the app ‘Gmote 2.0’. Now, you need to download and install the app. When you will open the app for the first time, it will indicate that you need to install Gmote server on your computer which you can easily get from here.

After installing Gmote on your phone and computer, you have to allow the programme access to the internet connection which you use. Now, create a password to connect to the Gmote server from your phone. Then, select the location of media files on your PC hard drive. Click on ‘Add path’ and select the files or folders which you want to share with your Android phone.

If you want to change your password or wish to add more media files, you can simply right-click the Gmote icon which is displayed on your computer’s Taskbar tray and choose the appropriate link from Settings menu.

After making the necessary changes to your PC, you need to make your Android device ready for action. Tap ‘Gmote’ icon and your PC’s name will appear on your screen, so just tap on it. If your computer name is not displayed automatically, just press the option below and enter its IP address by yourself.

Now, you will see a remote control layout on the screen of your Android device. Please complete the media playback controls or anything else you want. Then, tap any of the buttons displayed on the screen and it will indicate you to enter your password which you set on your PC. When you will enter your password, it will connect your device with the computer and you can control your PC from your Android.

It is very easy to use Gmote remote as it provides you controls which you can use to play, stop or pause media files. Moreover, you can change the volume too.

You can also explore the media files which are on your computer’s hard drive by tapping ‘Browse’ button displayed at the top left side of your screen.

You can search media files on your computer from your Android smartphone or tablet. Go back to the file browser on your device and you will find the option ‘Play on’ at the top, tap ‘Phone (beta)’.

One of the most interesting features of the app is that you can convert the screen into a mouse by tapping on ‘Touchpad’.

You can also type on your computer from the device by tapping ‘Keyboard’ icon on the top left corner of the screen. Furthermore, you can also search the internet from your Android by selecting ‘Web (beta)’.
