How to Cook Scrapple in the Oven

Scrapple is a German food that is made from cornmeal and meat. Though, this is a regional recipe but has still gained popularity all over the world. The reason is that it not only pleases your taste buds but also provides your body a nutritional value.

The traditional way to cook scrapple is to fry the slices but you can also bake them if you want to keep the cholesterol level significantly low. According to nutritionists, 1 slice of scrapple contains 222 calories, 13 g fat, 29 mg cholesterol, 608 mg sodium, 21 g carbohydrate, 2 g fibre and 6 g of protein.

Utensils: Wooden spoon, whisk, large bread loaf pan, measuring cups cookie sheet, non-stick cooking spray, knife

Ingredients:
White or yellow cornmeal: 1 cup
Milk:1 cup
Sugar: 1 teaspoon
Salt: 1 teaspoon
Boiling water: 2-3/4 cups
Bulk pork sausage, cooked, drained and crumbled: 8 ounces
All-purpose flour: as per required
Butter: 2 tablespoons
Maple syrup: optional

    First of all, prepare scrapple for the baking process and you will start by removing extra fats from ready-made sausage. The best way to do that is to put the sausage in a colander and set aside to drain properly. Meanwhile, you should make other ingredients for baking scrapple.

    Take a saucepan and pour 2 ¾ cups of water in it. Put the saucepan on a stove and boil the water.

    Next thing you will do is to make a smooth mixture of cornmeal, salt, pepper sugar and milk. Put all these ingredients in a bowl and whisk them properly. Keep beating until you find the batter turning smooth. After that, add that batter into the boiling water and keep stirring to avoid lumps.

    In the last step of preparation process, you will pour the batter into the bread loaf pan and add sausage into it. Set the mixture aside to cool down.
