How to Create a Custom Slide Show in PowerPoint

PowerPoint slide shows are an important part of any presentation. It is the best way to present information in a more attractive way to ensure that your audience stays glued to what you are saying through the duration of the presentation. Creating a custom slide show in Microsoft Office PowerPoint is fairly easy; even if it would be the first time you will be using PowerPoint. All you need is PowerPoint installed on a computer. Here is what you need to do in order to create a custom slide show in PowerPoint.

Instructions

  • 1

Launch Microsoft Office PowerPoint. You will need to click the ‘Start’ button, point to ‘All Programmes’ followed by ‘Microsoft Office’ and then click the PowerPoint icon. Wait for a moment for the programme to load.

  • 2

Save this PowerPoint presentation on your computer’s hard drive. It would be best to keep saving your work at regular intervals by pressing the ‘S’ key while holding down the ‘Ctrl’ key. This will ensure that most of your work would remain safe even if PowerPoint crashes due to some reason.

  • 3

After you have opened the new PowerPoint presentation, go to the Slide Show menu and then choose the option labelled ‘Custom Shows’.

  • 4

Click the button labelled ‘New’ and then select the type of presentation which you want to create. PowerPoint will now prompt you to enter a name for the first custom show. Type a name that suits your needs.

  • 5

You now need to select all the slides that you want to appear in the slide show. If you are using a Window computer, select all the slides in the order in which you want them to appear while holding down the ‘Ctrl’ key. For a Mac OS computer, this can be accomplished by holding down the ‘Shift’ key.

  • 6

Confirm your selection of the slides by clicking the button labelled ‘OK’.

  • 7

If you want to create more slides, simply repeat Steps 3 through 6. You can create as many slide shows as you want. Just make sure that you keep saving your work at regular intervals.
