Till now we have used masculinity to refer to men but nowadays it is also used to define materials and products of certain kinds. Some things are just more manly then girly. When it comes to a bedroom, we can associate masculinity to dark colors or materials with straight cuts and less frills. One of the most important factors is the feature or colored wall of the room as it can tell whether the room is masculine or feminine. It doesn’t mean that lady will not like this kind of bedroom. Start by surveying the size and the angles of the room. You also need to analyze the existing look of the room to see if it needs to be changed all together or some minor changes are required. Before you go for furniture hunt, measure the size of the floor and also the window dimensions.

Bring a color palette home and see which colors would give a more masculine effect. The easiest choices are: brown, blue or other such deep shades. All the walls could be painted a neutral shade or you could enhance one wall and color it darker. If the size of the room is small, do not make a bold and dark featured wall as it gives a congested look.

The bed chosen should not have a lot of carvings in it. Chose a simple wooden bed: either in gloss finish or the grainy finish. The bed should not be over dressed. Use minimal patterns when buying the bed sheet: it shouldn’t have flowers or hearts or frills on them. Either neutral off whites or dark colors in strips are good choices. You could also go for a monochromatic comforter and patterned pillows with a plain sheet.

Window treatment is an important part of the room. Do not go for heavy drapes or colorful curtains. The windows should be covered with a simple materiel. If all the walls are a neutral light shade then go for a contrast shade for the window blinds. This is an easy way to add a bold color. You could also add some details to the room: a simple display piece which can also be used to place the keys or loose change. An art deco style lamp will also add some character to the room.
