For creating a fumetti comic the first thing is to learn how to make speech bubbles. Start by writing your text on a computer and then take a print out.

You now need to draw a circle or a round-edged rectangle for spoken words and draw a cloud shape for thoughts.

  • 3

Now add a narrow triangular tail to the spoken-word bubbles. This tail should have the tip towards the speaker. However, you don’t have to draw them touching the mouth of the person or character that is talking. On the other hand, you can draw three circles in place of a narrow triangle for a thought-bubble. These small circles neither have to touch each other nor the thought-bubble.

Now cut out these bubbles to be used in the pictures.

The simplest and easiest type of fumetti is satire. This can be done by adding speech or thought bubbles to a single photograph. The picture is made amusing by the placing of verbal elements side by side, leaving it up to the reader to establish connections and impose a meaning. These are usually humorous and make excellent greeting cards.

It is also a great idea to use two pictures instead of just one to complete the comic look which means that your strip has a beginning and an ending. You need to find two pictures that complement each other and seem linked to one another in your comic.

  • 7

Choose high quality pictures for this purpose as appearance is everything. You want the readers to have a clear view of the picture and your speech/thought bubbles.

Apart from using photographs, you can shoot some interesting scenes with your friends or inanimate objects for the continuation of a story. This technique is used by many successful web-comics. For making the photographs appear more edgy you should import them in to some photo editing software.
