How to Decorate Food for Children

While playing and having fun kids forget everything including food, which is a basic need of human body for increasing their energy level. All parents want their kids to eat nutritious food and for that they have to work harder. A well decorated food grabs attention of all, especially kids. Parents can easily trick them by presenting the food kids do not like in a different way. The food must have appealing colours, tantalizing flavours and sometimes they can be shaped in their favourite movie or cartoon characters. Be creative and read the minds of your kids.

    You can buy cutters or moulds in different shapes, like flowers, star, oval, square, triangle etc. There are even garnishing machines available in market which can give unique and beautiful shapes to your fruits and vegetables. Make sandwiches of different shapes.

    Use cutlery, glasses or dishes with funky colours and for boosting another level of interest in the food. You can find bowls, plates, and glasses with cartoon or animated movies characters like, Ben-10, Dora, Barbie, Cars, Tom and Jerry etc.

    Add colours, if you are making plain rice, then mix some food colours in it. If your tomato soup has not perfect red colour then make it more intense. Muffins and cakes are usually topped with icing of different colours. Use these food pigments and make your food captivating.

    Carve or cut fruits and vegetables in different shapes, and keep the children guessing the menu. It would be like an amusing game which can also help in learning the name of different fruits and vegetables.

    Add chocolate syrup in shakes, or just pour some in the glass and let it set for few minutes. When it gets properly set on the glass, pour the shake or juice. It is certainly going to entice the kids.

    Do not let your food look like a disaster by adding too many things in it. Like if you have used a yellow colour in rice, use contrasting colours in a sauce or salad you are serving with it.

    Use each vegetable in making different style of dishes, if you are using a capsicum in pasta, then next time make cheese or chicken stuffed capsicums. Do not make the same dishes every day, try something contemporary.
