How to Develop a Good Musical Ear
Training a good music ear is not an easy task. Many producers and musicians find it hard to train their ear musically and it actually gets seriously frustrating. Once you have a well-developed music ear, you will realize how it is a vital part of not only guessing the chords of the song that you are listening to. In fact, it really helps you song-writing as well.
We can actually learn a lot just by listening to other songs. However, if we do not know the chords to those songs just by listening to them, it will definitely be hard for us to improve our own knowledge about the subject.

1
Ask help
When you are going for a better musical ear, you should realize that it is not a single man’s job to train the ear. You should ask for someone’s help and that person can come and play chords for you while you can sit and tell them which chords they are playing. This is one form of practicing and even though it does sound ridiculous, it really does help. Each and every note that your friend will play, you will be able to recognize it and this will really help you get a good grasp on the notations. -

Number the chords
When you are trying to name the chords, and the notations placed within a song, you should not try and remember them through the name of the chords. You already know the chords, but what matters is the fact that you associate a number with the amount of notes associated with one chord. For example: if the song you are listening to is being played in the A major scale, you should know that you will be encountering the A, D and E7 chords most frequently. Therefore, try to number these chords as that will be really helpful. -

Go step by step
Do not rush into a lot of things all at once, such things come with experience and time and you should give them time as well.
