How To Diagnose a Slipping Clutch in Your Car
The clutch on a manual motor vehicle normally lasts between four to seven years. The duration depends on the surface you drive and your individual driving technique. For example, if you live in a hilly area then it will not last long as compared to driving the car in the city. For most people, shifting transmission car is an important part of the driving experience.
However, if you live in a highly populated place with many hindrances, you may form a few bad shifting habits which can cause a slipping clutch or stripped gears. There are a number of ways which will aid you in diagnosing a slipping clutch in your car.

1
Inspect the automobile carefully
See if you smell a burning sensation coming from under the hood of the car. This can occur due to electrical wiring or bad oil, but it could be the first indication of a slipping clutch. Move the clutch pedal and if it consumes all of the pedal movement to connect then it needs to be looked at.
Turn off the engine and crawl under the car. Put the emergency brake in motion and block the wheels, so the car doesn't move on its own. When you are under the automobile, look for a plastic cover on the edge of the clutch housing. Open the cover with the help of a screwdriver and then you will see the clutch face. View the face-plate with the aid of a flashlight. If the ceramic plate is damaged or there is bare metal on it, it needs to be changed immediately. -
2
Test drive
Take the automobile for a drive to check if it’s working optimally. You can check this by seeing if it needs more RPMs from the engine to get the normal speed. This will also show whether the car needs a new clutch. When driving in 2nd gear, put the car in the 3rd or 4th gear and push the clutch. If the RPM increases and the speed does not, you need to replace the clutch. -

Check the clutch plate
You can also check the car in a parking space. Start the engine and put it in 2nd or 3rd gear and let the clutch out. If the RPM goes up and the car stays still, the clutch is damaged.
