If you are facing strong wind then try to get to the upwind side of the kayak. This approach will help you to overcome the intensity of bad weather. You will be able to use the strength of the wind while climbing back to the kayak. Moreover, you should flip the boat and drain all the water from its cockpit. Remember, if you are facing wind then there is a possibility that you will not be able to put your feet right.

Place the paddle blade in a way that it is between you and cockpit. Next thing you should do is to hold the paddle and cockpit and try to push yourself up. Make sure that paddle and kayak are making an angle of 90 degrees. Paddles can provide you the best support only if it is attached in a way that both kayak and paddle form a letter “T”.

Now, when you have set all the things in a pattern, clutch the paddle and pull your body to the rear deck of the kayak. Remember, you need to be quick while trying to get a grip. Place your right leg over the paddle and then the other leg without any delay. The best way to control the balance is to maintain the 90 degree angle between the kayak and paddle.
