Instructions

  • 1

Position your rear foot on the tail and your front foot right in the middle of the skateboard while standing on the board. This is the ideal position for doing an Ollie. Any other position and you would not be able to execute the trick.

  • 2

Make sure that the ball of your rear foot is positioned exactly in the middle of the skateboard. The position of the ball of your foot should be such that it feels pressure when you push the skateboard’s tail down.

  • 3

Your front foot should be positioned across the skateboard as straight as possible.

  • 4

Practice transferring the entire weight of your body onto your rear foot and in the process, pushing the skateboard’s tail down, as fast as possible. This would be the initial motion you would need to master it in order to execute the Ollie perfectly.

  • 5

The amount of pressure you exert while pushing down the board would directly effect the duration for which the skateboard stays up when the tail is on the ground. It is important to understand this fact because you will rely on it in the steps to come.

  • 6

Start sliding your front foot up the skateboard (this will cause the knee on the side of your foot to move towards your chest) and simultaneously apply pressure on the tail of the skateboard until it strikes the ground. Then jump off with your rear foot.

  • 7

As you jump, drag up the side of your foot along the skateboard. This will ensure that the skateboard responds to your jump and comes up while you are jumping. The skateboard should lift with your feet.

  • 8

Complete the trick by coming back down.
