How To Do Motorcycle Powder Coating

Powder coating is a type of coating which is applied in the form of free flowing dry solid, and it gives a layer of paint which is brighter, thicker and much more durable than the ordinary paint. It is applied on automobiles to give them a sleek look, and is the number one choice of paint material for bikes these days.

Procedure for applying a coat of powder coating involves spraying of dry powder on clean metal surface without the need of any adhesive agent or a binding pigment. When the powder leaves the nozzle of the spray unit, it becomes electrically charged and gets attached to the metal surface because of the charge difference. The powder is created with a special type of polymer which is sensitive to heat. It is mixed with other chemicals to increase its weight and to make it strong, so that it is able to resist tough weather conditions.

You can use sandblasting to remove any stains or dirt marks that are not coming off.

Wear a safety mask and safety goggles before proceeding forward. Attach the sand blaster gun to the air compressor. Allow the pressure to build up to 50 psi, and then spray air over the entire metal surface. Allow some time for the dust to settle down, and then use a broom to clean up the area.
