How to Do the Magic Number’s Card Trick

This particular type of mathematical trick gives the audience or  viewers a lot of control. Besides, it also makes you remember that a deck can be cut as many as 13 times, and yet the order of the card remains the same. When we talk about some magical numbers, then 13 is probably the most common one number. For example, the magic number chosen is 13 and there are four people in the audience. The deck is handed over to each one of them such that they all make 3 cuts in the deck at a time. You being the performer make the last final cut, selecting the cards close to the first King that you come across.

Instructions

  • 1

After considering number thirteen as the magic number, start cutting the deck. Hand the deck over to 4 members of the audience one by one and ask them to make 3 cuts, making the total to 12 cuts.

Once the cuts have been made by the audience, it is your turn to make the final cut of 13th. Make the cut putting your thumb in the card, and stop when you find the first King in the deck.

  • 3

In order to make the trick interesting, you should make the audience realize that most cuts have been made by them and you only made one. This will make them think about the possibility of the deck getting back in order again.

  • 4

After telling the audience that the deck will be back in order after cutting as many as 13 times, start showing them the cards with their face up.

  • 5

Continue placing cards on the deck with face up till you are done with half of the cards. After that put the cards back into the deck.

  • 6

Once you have put the cards back into the deck, show it to the audience once again to make them know about the order of the cards.

  • 7

After showing them the order, take the deck in your hand and make several cuts wherever you see the King. You will be surprised that upon confirming, the cards will once again be back in the order.
