How to Do The Three-Cup Shuffle Magic Trick
This is a professional magic trick, performed by experienced magicians, but with little know-how you can actually leave your audience mesmerised by pretending to read their minds in order to identify the location of an object placed under three identical cups. This trick can be performed at various events and occasions, but you will need a lot of practice before performing in front of people. You need to prepare for this trick before the arrival of the audience. Begin by attaching a thin and invisible piece of thread (which should not be more than three to four inches in length) to a piece of tape. Now you need to attach this thread to a coin or a poker chip.

Now place the coin back on the table with the side with the tape on the bottom. It is imperative that the thread is concealed from the audience which is crucial for the success of your trick. It should be barely visible to you too.

Once you are convinced that the thread is not visible, and the coin is in its right place, make an announcement to gain the attention of your friends, let them know that you are about to demonstrate a mind-reading trick.

You now need to take out three cups and focus your attention towards them, pretending as if the cups hold the key to your trick. This will also divert the attention of the audience away from the coin.

Ask them to inspect the cup, and once they are finished with the inspection of the three cups, you now need to place one of the cups on the coin which should be sitting on the table. During this process, the audience will pay more attention towards the cups instead of the coin.

Now shuffle the cups by yourself, and after a few shuffles, you now need to ask for a volunteer, bring her/him up and ask to shuffle the cups. Adding further drama to your trick, you can even turn your back towards the audience as the volunteer shuffle’s the cups. Do not peek and let the audience know this.

Now turn back and pretend as if reading the minds of the people to learn under which cup the coin is. This is where you need to exhibit some acting talents to be more convincing. While you are acting, you need to look for the invisible thread, after little difficulty you should be able to see it. Now just lift the cup and reveal the coin.
