How to Dodge Bullets

Dodging a bullet is something that most people feel can only happen in movies. However, that is not the case as it has been proven that with ample training and practice people can actually go on and avoid getting shot.

No one mentally wants to prepare him/herself to dodge a bullet, since they feel they might never be caught up in such a situation. However, if you ever happen to find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time, it is probably a smart decision to know just how to avoid a bullet.

The first thing you should do is to play a first person shooter video game. This is highly recommended for those people who have never served in the army. Playing the game at the hardest difficulty level will mentally help you come to terms with just how hard it is to dodge a bullet. It will also program your brain for knowing just when to sidestep, duck or hop in a heated situation. You can then later translate these skills into real life.

Once you have played the FPS game for quite some time, apply the skills that you learned in that to real life. Go play a game of laser tag, or have a paintball shoot out. When participating in these activities, try to use all the tricks you had learned while playing FPS. Practice zig zag runs, ducks, strafes, rolls and everything else that you can possibly think of, to dodge being hit.

You can also use teamwork to dodge bullets. You can have one or two people go on and shoot at the attacker from a distance. This will prevent the attacker from moving, while allowing you ample space to move around in. This will also give you the opportunity to launch a counter attack on your attacker.

Another thing that you can try doing, is to run from cover to cover. Never expose yourself and remain in the open for too long. The ideal trick is to keep changing your location, and to stay in a covered place. Every time you move, you need to ensure that you are moving in a zig zag pattern, crawling or walking in a crouched manner.

Stay as low as you can, to give your attacker the smallest possible target to shoot at.

  • 6

Remember to stay in motion and avoid remaining stationary for too long.
