How to Download Drivers for an Inkjet Printer

When you reinstall Windows in your computer, or connect your printer with a new computer, you need to install the drivers for your printer once again, to make it available for you to take the prints. The driver disk always comes whenever you purchase a new printer. If, for any reason, you have lost the driver disk and you do not have the driver files saved as backup in your computer, then you will have to locate the drivers from the internet. There are different websites available online where you can search for your printer drivers just entering its model number.

    Read your owner’s manual and check for the company’s official website. Open your web browser and navigate to the company’s website and locate the drivers section.

    In the drivers section, you will be required to provide some information related to your printer model. You can check the model of your printer printed on its box, or you are also check it on a label pasted at printer’s back.

    Enter the model number and click the search button. If the website does not have any search feature, then there must be manual way of selecting the model number for your printer. You will have to select your printer model from a list of printer models, or from the drop-down menu.

    After you are done with selecting the model number of your printer, you will be taken to the driver’s page, where you will see different files available for download.

    You will have to select the file that is designed especially for your operating system. For instance, if you are using Windows XP, then you will have to download the file that is compatible with Windows XP. If you download a file for Windows XP and install it on Windows 7, then there is probability that your printer may not work properly.

    Clicking the “Download” button against your desired setup file will start the download process. Once the download is complete, you can run the installation file and follow the onscreen prompts to bring your printer back in working condition.

    If the downloaded file is in .Zip or .rar format, then you may need to extract its contents, and use the “Browse” button, when your operating system asks for the location of the driver, to run the installation process.
