How to Drive Safely in Rain
It’s difficult to drive during heavy rainfall as the roads are slippery, the vision blurs and sometimes the wipers are not getting the job done. This is the time when most drivers opt for stopping the car on the side of the road and waiting for the rain to either slow down or stop. However, there are ways through which you can drive through heavy rainfall and reach your destination safely.

Before leaving the house, when you see that there are dark clouds in the sky, or the forecast suggests that it will rain heavily, clean all the windows of your car from both the inside and outside. This is extremely important for smokers as the inner windows mostly have smoke residue on them and it can cause visibility issues later.

You also need to keep a check on all your lights. Make sure that your headlights are working. Moreover, the brake lights are also extremely important. The car behind you will not be able to see you unless your brake lights are in perfect working condition. Your turn signals should also be in good working condition.
-
3
Make sure that the wipers on your windscreen are also in good working condition.

Now, take your car out and if it starts raining heavily, turn your headlights and wipers on. The headlights will help you see what is ahead of you, while they will also work as a signal for other cars coming from the opposite direction. The wipers will aid you in clearing out the water to increase the visibility of your windscreen.

Make sure that while you’re driving, your speed is under control and slower than the actual speed limit of that road. Since the roads are slippery, it will be hard to control your car if you are driving fast.

6
If there is a car ahead of you, make sure to keep a safe distance. In terms of rain, the safe distance is a little more than the usual distance you keep between your car and the one ahead of you. At least make sure that you can see both the rear wheels of the car in front of you.

At times it might start to hail which can make driving extremely dangerous and almost impossible. In that case, don’t try to risk your life and simply stop the car somewhere off the road and wait it out.
