How to Dry Flowers in the Microwave

While there are many ways to dry a flower, using your microwave is among the most convenient, quickest and effective methods you can adopt. As compared to the air drying technique, using a microwave to dry flowers can help you save a lot of time.

– Fresh and dry flowers
– Cat litter: four cups
– A small paint brush

    Select flowers

    The first step towards drying flowers in a microwave is to select the right flowers. Pluck a number of different flowers to be dried. It is recommended that you opt for flowers which have just started to open up. Apart from that, you should also ensure that the flowers are free of insects and are not wet.

    Pour cat litter into a bowl

    You should now put four cups of cat litter into a bowl which can be placed in a microwave. Softly put aside some of the cat litter and put one flower there before you cover the flower with cat litter once again.

    Place the bowl in the microwave

    Place the bowl in microwave and run it for approximately two to three minutes. You can now remove the bowl from the microwave and allow the cat litter to cool down.

    Take the flower out

    Softly take the flower out of the bowl and place it on a dry and clean surface. In order to remove any of the remaining cat litter, you can use a small brush. Some people use a basting brush; whereas, others prefer a paint brush to free the flower from cat litter.

    Repeat the same process with the other flowers

    You can now repeat exactly the same process with the remaining flowers as well. However, keep in mind that the flowers need to be dried one at a time.
