How to Email Pictures from an Android Phone

Gone are the days when people used to transfer their photos first to a Personal Computer and then upload them on the internet from the computer. This is the age of smart phones and tablets and with the spread of wireless internet; remaining in touch with your dear ones has become a lot easier.

Android has received a lot of acclaim for its easy functionality and its open source code. This allows developers to modify the Operating System according to their needs. Moreover the wide range of easy to use Applications also adds to its growing popularity.

This article will cover how to email photos from an Android in a step by step guide.

    Make sure you are connected to the internet

    First of all connect your device to the Wireless internet or commonly known as Wi-Fi. You can also use the cellular network or GPRS for this purpose but it will be a bit slower and sending photos on GPRS will take more time than Wi-Fi. Go to the settings tab in the main menu and tap the Wireless & Networks tab. Turn on your wireless network if it has been disabled.

    Enable Wi-Fi

    Enable Wi-Fi or data usage option in the menu. Add the Network and the network security key to access Wi-Fi.

    Set up an account

    You must have set up an Email account when you were using the phone for the first time. Or you use a Gmail account to access the Android market. However, if no account has been added yet one can be set up very easily. Go to the Accounts and Sync option in the Settings menu. Tap on add an account option and enter your email and password.

    Using another email than Gmail

    If you want to send email using Hotmail, Yahoo or any other service, there is an Email App in the Android by default. Tap the Email icon once; you will be prompted for email id and password. Fill in the details and tap sign in.

    Composing a mail

    Now open the Email Application and tap on the Compose option. Enter the email id of the recipient just like you add in your computer.

    Attaching Pictures

    Now tap on the attachments option. It has a logo of a paper-clip. The Application will prompt you to either take the picture with the camera now or ask the location of the saved picture.

    Now tap on send and send photos to as many people as you like.
