You will have to provide some personal information about yourself including, full name, date of birth and your desired user name and the password you wish to use. If your desired username is not available, Hotmail will provide you a couple of options, choose from one of them.

You can use the search bar to locate the email address of a person. For this, type in the full name of person in the search bar and press enter or click ‘Search’.

If the name is so common and you are presented a large list of search results, then you should use ‘Advanced Search’. In order to use advanced search, you will have to provide additional information that will help Hotmail in scrutinising from the large list.

Now have a closer look at the pictures and identify your friend. After you have identified the friend, click on ‘Add as Friend’.
