How to Fix Power Mirror Switch

A power mirror switch is something that controls the power mirror system of a car. So, if you have powered windows installed in your car and are not working anymore, then you need to fix it in order to ensure the sliding movement.

Usually, the power mirror switch is located at the driver’s door panel, the A-pillar. The whole system controls the movement of door windows and there is a joystick which allows you to move the glass in the side mirror, without taking your arm out of the car.

You do not need to pay money to a professional, in order to get your power window switch replaced, because you can do it yourself.

    You will need to have trim tools with you  in order to fix the power mirror switch of your vehicle. If you have one, then you can pry out the power switch from the driver door panel easily. If  not,  you will have to borrow it or visit a nearby auto parts retailers and purchase the kit.

    Right after you take the power switch out of the door, you will see mirror wiring harness, which you need to unplug in order to take the switch completely out of your vehicle. You should be very careful while you unplug the wiring, as it can break if you apply too much pressure on wrong area.

    Also, mark the mirror wiring harness, if they are more than one, which will help you in remembering connections easily.

    Now take the switch to the auto spare parts shop and purchase a similar switch, which you will insert in your vehicle’s door.

    Connect the newly purchased power mirror switch with the mirror wiring harness using your hands.  When you are done with making connections, insert the switch into the door panel. You may need to apply some pressure over the switch, in order to get it placed properly.

    Now check the switch by pressing its buttons in both the directions. If the windows slide well, you are ready to go. Otherwise, you will need to see a professional mechanic, who will figure out the actual problem with your power windows.
