How to Get Into Character for a Scene
Acting is an art, which cannot be easily performed by just anyone. Although there are numerous technical aspects to it, the most important thing that should be kept in mind is that you have to start behaving as a different person altogether. You should forget who you are in reality in order to understand the other character better.
Even if you have to perform for a single scene, it is important to get into your character. In order to do that, you will have to study the character properly and then rehearse the dialogues repeatedly. There are some other important things, which can help you perform better in a scene, but you must remain confident and follow them closely.

1
Understand your character
Studying your character makes things quite easy and will definitely help you deliver the dialogues while doing the scene. While understating the character you are offered, you have to consider both the physical and mental states. This way, you will know how to prepare and to say your lines properly. -
2
Remember the dialogues
Before getting into the character, you have to remember the dialogues by heart. No matter how good you are at acting, you will be uncomfortable, if you forget any lines while performing in a scene. Ask a friend to go over your lines with you a few days in advance. -
3
Forget who you are
Once you have the script and have started rehearsing, try to forget who you are in reality. Some people don’t take this seriously and believe that they will get into the character at the last moment, which is almost an impossible thing to do. It will take a few days before you start understanding what changes you need to make in your personality in order to deliver the best performance. -
4
Practice in front of the mirror
In order to judge your expressions, make sure you practice the dialogues in front of a mirror. This will help you gain confidence and fit into the role properly. -
5
Understand the other characters
Although you have to study your own character, it is equally important to understand the other characters in the scene. This way, you will know how to respond to different situations. Some of the characters in the scene will be good to you whereas others will be a bit evil. If you know about them in detail, you will be able to respond to them accordingly in the scene.
