How to Get More Agile on Court

Agility on the court comes with the amount of effort you put in to improve your control over body movements. To summarize the above statement into one word, ‘footwork’ is the key. It is an essential component of the game and comes with an immense amount of dedication.

If you plan on making it big on the international circuit then along with your game you will need to focus on your footwork. To some, agility comes naturally to them, but most of the people have to work on it to achieve that optimum level of movement on the court.

    If you are a determined enough player to challenge yourself physically then start off on the mile track. Make consecutive rounds of the track and build up your stamina, which is highly pivotal if you want to be fit enough to play long and strenuous matches. There are numerous exercises which can help you build stamina and consequently help your footwork and agility on the court.

    Climb up a hill or stairs to stress your thigh muscles. The thigh muscle is one of the biggest muscles in the body and with every step you take it takes some sort of burden.

    Get on the tennis court. Every court has line markings on it. Set those lines as your targets. You have to shoot up to each line, touch it and come back. You will have to do this exercise till you exhaust the lines on the court. The purpose is to increase your movement on the court and help you get better footwork.

    Next time you go on the tennis court, take the ball machine with you. Adjust the machine such that it throws one ball on the far side of your forehand and then one on the back hand. You can adjust the speed of the machine to your comfort level and then increase it gradually. The machine will help you immensely as you will be playing two different running shots. This will not only help you improve at the game, but your footwork will improve and you will be able to scramble across the court in lesser time.
