How to Get Promoted in the Navy
When you join navy, you are usually worried about how to make a progress and rise through the ranks to find a prominent position as an officer.

Gain professional knowledge and boost your expertise gradually. Being a commissioner officer will require you to show to the superiors that you pay attention to your duties and have a willingness to make progress and serve the nation. When you join the navy, you will be required to follow a distinct process that may trouble you at first. Stick to it and do not stop believing in yourself. Personal Qualification Standards (PQS) will play a major role in your efforts to rise through the ranks and get promoted.

Focus on quality of work. You cannot get away with poor piece of work in the navy as quality of work is the top priority in armed forces. Whether you are lieutenant studying and training to prove your worth or a captain who has seen enough after years of service, you need to show to the superiors that quality is your hallmark.

Gain technical expertise as quickly as possible. If you are in the field of engineering and other technical sides, you will be judged by how well you learn things and implement them within your domain and capacity. Commissioned officers working in the engineering field at navy are not required to go through as rigorous military training like officers in others fields are, but things like quality of work, discipline, integrity and hard work will still be considered basic tools that can help them get promoted.

Keep studying in order to make headway. Take different exams in your field in order to let the superiors know you are willing to get a promotion. For instance, you may be asked to go for a Master’s degree after serving for a few years in the engineering side. If you are going to take navy wide exams, make sure you prepare well before deciding on the exam date.
