How to Get Rid Of a Stuffy Nose

Winter or summer, a nasal congestion or a stuffy nose can be as irritating as an arguing wife or a mosquito buzzing in the ear; late night during sleep. Apart from being irritating, a stuffy nose can also be annoying for those around you, as it can be due to a viral infection. Hence, the more you sneeze and rub your nose, there is a chance that others might get infected with virus. Therefore, to get rid of the stuffy nose is nothing less than a release from prison, though you can visit a doctor for medications and advice, but there are some methods of getting rid of a stuffy nose rather naturally.

    Rubbing the nose.

    If you rub your nose in a circular motion such that you are slowly inhaling and exhaling. This will provide you some relief and doing it for about 10 seconds or so will unblock a stuffy nose.

    Hot water shower

    If you have the availability of hot water, then you can simply take a shower for some time. The warmth of hot water will result in clearing the nasal passage, thus unblocking the stuffed nose.

    Steam intake

    If you think that hot water shower is not convenient then taking steam can also serve as a good substitute. Heat a bowl full of water on a stove preferably or in a microwave oven. Cover yourself and the bowl with a cloth (or towel) such that the steam directly enters your nostrils. However, adding some drops of vicks in bowl will serve as a quick time remedy.

    Saline Drops

    Take some salt and dissolve it in a reasonable amount of warm water to make a salt solution or saline water. Put a few drops of solution in your nostrils, as it will help loosen the mucus thus have you relieved from the stuffy nose.

    Drink plenty of fluids

    Increasing the intake of fluids is one of the best natural ways to get rid of stuffy nose. Drinking fairly warm water and juices make the mucus in your nostrils go lose and so you will be able to breath easily; relieving you from nasal congestion.
