    Visa free entry Eligibility


    The US government allows visa free entry to individuals who qualify under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Applicants who are citizens of United Kingdom, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland who are traveling to the US for business, pleasure or are in transit can qualify.


    Furthermore, these individuals also must have a valid passport that is machine readable or an e-passport with a chip installed. The stay must be for 90 days or less.     Setting up an interview


    Generally, all applicants between the ages of 14 to 79 need to schedule an interview as part of the visa application process. You cannot walk into the US Embassy and need to make an appointment first.


    a) Call the Operator Assisted Visa Information & Nonimmigrant Visa Appointment Booking Service and setup a time and date for your interview. The number is 09042-450-100 and can only be accessed from with in the UK. Click Here for timings.
    b) Once you are done you will be requested to pay for the application. The transaction can done using a credit card or debit card. The fee schedule can be found here.
    c) You will be email a receipt of payment and appointment immediately after you are done. You should print this out and save it.

    Fill out online form


    Once you have your appointment set, you should then go ahead an fill out the DS-160 form available online here.


    You must indicate where your interview will be held on the form so that the information is sent to the correct location. You will also be asked to attach a photograph with the form. Click here to get all details on photograph rules.

    Interview Day


    On the day of your interview head over to the US embassy in London with you receipts of payment and interview letter that where sent to you via email. Also have all documents with you including your passport. You will not be allowed to enter with out all the required credentials. During the interview a set of fingerprints will be taken and you must make sure that you have no cuts on your hands or else your application will be rescheduled.

    Processing time and delivery


    It can take approximately 5 days for your passport to return from the embassy after processing. A courier service contracted by the embassy delivers your passport to your home or mailing address.
