How to Get your State Identification Card
In the current world, the proof of identification is as important as one’s self and without one, it is very hard to get anything done. One must possess an official document that can identify him or her and prove who that person is.
For this purpose, all states in the US offer drivers licenses as well as identity cards in case you do not drive or not looking for one at this point in time. The procedure is pretty basic and you can get one made within a couple of hours. It will reach you in 4-5 days in mail.

Be Eligible
You must be eligible to hold the identity in the first place. Generally you should be at least 18 years of age, should be living in the state and be a citizen or permanent resident of US or have a valid visa that allows you to acquire a state identity card.
You should not have a driver’s license from the state since it will make you ineligible for a state ID and you will need to surrender the driver’s license in order to get the ID. -

Have the Required Documents
You will be required to prove your identity in front of DMV (Division of Motor Vehicles) or whichever related department operates in your state. Your passport, a letter from the bank or library, cancelled cheques, birth certificates and social security cards are good enough. They will not only prove your identity but also your address which is quite important. You will generally need to provide two proves of identity and two proves of address as well. These can be the same in certain cases.

Apply
Get to the office of the authority and wait in the queue. You should get your number pretty soon though avoid Mondays as it is the busiest day of the week. Provide them with your complete information when they ask for it. Soon afterwards, you will be photographed and the process will be completed from your end. -

Get it in the Mail
It generally takes about a week for you to get the state ID card in the mail. It will come in your letter box like any other letter. Make sure that you collect it when it arrives and do not leave it in there for too long.
