1
Pick Horses Hooves
Use a hoof pick for the purpose and start the cleaning process from the heel of the foot and then from the toe. Make sure that you carefully remove all the dirt and small rocks that may be stuck in there. Make sure you do not touch the v-shaped part of the hoof, also known as frog because it is extremely sensitive. -
2
Use a Rubber Curry Comb
This is a great idea if you are grooming when the horses are shedding hair or are muddy. Use the brush in small, circular motion. Do it one side at a time and avoid the bony areas of the body while using the curry comb. -
3
Use Dandy Brush
After using the rubber curry comb, use a dandy brush to remove dirt from the body. The bristles of a dandy brush are tough and will do a good job. Use it in long straight strokes. Avoid areas like the face, belly and other sensitive areas as it can cause discomfort to the horse. If the horse is uncomfortable with its use, you can use a soft cloth as well. -
4
Use a Soft Brush
Use a brush with soft bristles on afterwards. This can be used on areas such as the face and ears as well. This will help you in giving a fine touch of cleanliness to the horse. Make sure you do not use it over any cuts though. -
5
Wipe
Use the wipe to clean the face, nose and eyes. It should also be used for the purpose of cleaning areas under the tail. Use new wipes for each area to avoid infections. -
6
Combing
Use a comb with wide bristles to comb the hair of the horse. Take your time and fashion them well. A horse looks great when it’s clean and has its hair properly combed.
