How to Help Your Baby Sleep

Any parent knows from experience how difficult it is to put a baby to sleep especially when he/she is less than one year old. At this time, babies are in the age of constant and active exploration of the world. They find it difficult to sleep because of the immaturity of the nervous system. However, adults can help their fidgets in this regard.

Some babies sleep more during the day, while others sleep more at night. Typically, babies up to 6 months sleep three times a day while babies at the age from six months to a year usually sleep two times a day.

The problem of placing the baby to sleep is familiar to many parents. Solving this riddle is sometimes difficult, but possible if you follow certain rules in order to put your baby to bed.

Things Required:

– Nightlight
– Toys

Instructions

Having put your baby on the bed, sit with him/her. The proximity of the mother is very important especially for infants. You can read a child a book, even if he/she cannot understand anything at all or you can sing a song.

Quite often, kids are afraid of the dark and cannot sleep with the door closed. Get a night light in the nursery in a fun design and let the baby sleep with the door open. Over time, these fears will be gone and the baby will sleep peacefully.

  • 3

Try to make a ritual before taking your baby to bed. Make it a rule to play any game with the baby before taking him/her to bed. Excessive activity before sleep is not recommended. Arrange the baby a bath with sage, mint or lavender. After that, use the first method.

  • 4

Lay the baby to bed at the same time every day in order to form a routine that will ensure a decent night's sleep for your baby. Before laying your baby to bed, make sure that nothing is causing him/her discomfort.

  • 5

Many parents are faced with such a situation in which a child begins to scream hysterically after waking up. It is important not to go instantly to the baby at this time. Do not enter the room for five minutes and consider it as if the baby is not crying. Go after five minutes and quietly put the baby to bed. Try to increase the interval everyday and you will soon see how your baby goes to sleep peacefully without any tantrums.
