How to Hit Hybrid Clubs in Golf

Hybrid clubs have been popular in the last decade or so as golfers have preferred to stay away from the traditional wooden and iron clubs. These clubs have taken the place of long irons, which were generally difficult to get used to. They are much easier to use in comparison to long irons and also offer an increased angle on the ball. Hybrid clubs also increase the backspin on the ball which is generally helpful for amateurs.

Instructions

    Get into your usual stance

Stance is one of the most important things in Golf. You need to have a stable stance before you hit a shot in order to get the best results. The ball should be placed nearer to the left leg if you are right handed and nearer to the right leg if you are left handed.

  • 2

    Grip the club firmly

The grip of the hybrid club should be firm, not very hard and not very soft. This is to ensure that your grip has the required flexibility for the shot that you are playing. The grip is similar to the grip you use when holding a long iron. Make sure you hold the club a little harder when playing a long shot as that would help in hitting it a long way.

  • 3

    Slow Backswing and decent contact

The backswing should be slow and steady. You should extend the hybrid club as far as you can for the backswing but when bringing it down, make sure you are in total control and know your target. The contact with the ball should be on the downer side as that would send the ball higher and eventually it will cover more distance.

    Decent follow through

A decent follow through is very important. You should not stop at the moment you hit the ball. The swing of the club should be finished even though the ball has already been hit. This ensures that you keep a good balance after hitting the shot and also maintains a very good angle of the ball.

    Practice makes perfect

Playing with a new club can always be difficult as there are a number of new things you have to adjust to. So, the best case is to continue practicing to improve. Try to practice on different surfaces from the rough to the fairway to develop a better understanding of the club.
