How to Improve Free Throw Shooting

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is a sport that is growing by the day, as more and more people are starting to come to terms with it and enjoy what it is capable of producing.

Basketball involves people performing a number of routines and movements, which ends up helping them score baskets.

However, as in the case with most sports you can actually go on and foul your opponents, if you perform an illegal movement on the pitch.

Now if this is done a number of times, or performed in the area, then the referee tends to award free throws. If you are fouled in the two point area, you are awarded two free throws. However, if you are fouled in the three point area, you are awarded three free throws.

Scoring free throws is no easy task, since some of the best players in the world end up missing from the line.

Making your free throws count can make or break your team and their performance, which is why it is very important to be able to nail your shots time and time again.

    Practice

The one thing you can never get enough of, is practicing. It doesn’t matter what you do, what sport you play or what aspect of your game you want to improve. Practicing is the utmost important thing to becoming a better player.

After every game, during your days off, what you need to do is head down to the court and make countless shots from the line. Doing this a number of times will adjust your body and your arm movement to being able to nail the shot.

Once you get really good at it, you could try and see how many you make out of a hundred and for every shot  you miss, you can do five pushups. This way your body will urge you not to miss any more.

    Drills

Alongside practicing, you can do free throw drills. These drills can range from being able to score from a number of positions on the pitch, to being able to score a number of free throws within a set number of time.

What drills actually do, is that they help train your mind and body to perform in high pressure situations. Once you master free throws via drills, you will be scoring for fun in away games, amidst noisy crowds.
