How to Install Anything in Ubuntu

Ubuntu is an operating system in which you get a built-in package manager which you can use to manage all your packages installed on your computer. Also, you can use the package manager to install new packages. As a result, the packages do not get scattered throughout your computer and remain in a proper order.

Synaptic is one of the best package managers that you can find on Ubuntu, because of its easy-to-use interface. So, if you are looking to install anything on Ubuntu, then you can just use Synaptic and make your experience with the operating system more comfortable and easy.

    First of all, you will have to launch the Synaptic Package Manager. For that purpose, you will have to click “System”, then "Administration" and select “Synaptic Package Manager”.

    Here, you will be required to provide the administrator password in order to prevent any unauthorized administrative access to your system settings.

    Once you see the Synaptic Package Manager window on your screen, use the search button on the tool bar to look for the software programs that you want to install in your computer. Write the name of the software you are looking for and then click the search button.

    From the list of software, right click the one that you selected and designate the file to be installed. If the software requires any other programs to be installed first, you will be informed accordingly through a pop-up window. Ubuntu allows you to install multiple programs at one time.

    Select the programs you need to download and install, and click the “Apply” button. This will start the downloading process for the programs you selected. Once the download is complete, the programs will automatically be installed in your computer.

    Now go to the “Applications” menu and check for the programs that you just installed in your computer. If you do not find them in the list, then consider installing the package menu-xdg. Once the installation is complete, run the Debian menu and you will see the recently installed packages in the list.
