  Before doing anything else, you must determine your purpose for installing GarageBand software. Make sure the Apple computer or laptop to be used is running OS X or higher. If this is not the case, consider buying the latest computer which at least runs on OS X if not higher. You can also look into upgrading your current OS by purchasing the appropriate software before installing GarageBand software. Apple’s iLife Package and GarageBand software only works on Mac computers as it was designed to be used on the OS X operating system.

  In terms of size, GarageBand is quite huge. It can use up about 2 GB of disk space and therefore it is crucial to make sure there is enough disk space for this software. If possible, designate about 4.3 GB disk space for GarageBand as you will be required to install the whole iLife package to be able to run the GarageBand application on your computer. Installing iDVD, iTunes, iMovie or iPhoto, make sure there is enough space on your Apple Mac to run the software properly.

  Consider purchasing the iLife software package from your local supermarket or DVD store. The iLife package usually comes on a CD or DVD to be used for installation purposes. If you do not want to purchase a new DVD, ask your friend if you can borrow his for a few hours.

  Switch on your computer and wait for the OS to load. Enter your control panel username and password to access the desktop. Insert the DVD or CD into the drive and run the iLife installer by clicking the DVD icon on your desktop. Choose the items you want to install on the list of options displayed as you run the application. Remember to take your time when installing any software to your computer to make sure it is done properly.
