How to Install Home Audio Subwoofers

If you are a music lover, installing audio subwoofers at the home is the ultimate fun. Imagine you are playing your favourite song, and the subwoofers are providing ‘house shaking’ bass.

A lot of people don’t enjoy watching movies on a home theatre just because of poor sound. No matter how expensive multimedia projector you have bought, if the sound system is not good, everything will start to look and sound dull.

On the other hand, a good sound system can make you tremble even if you are not watching the best of horror movies. A single subwoofer can be lost in a big room. To add more thrill and excitement, install another one.

The latest subwoofers, particularly with stereo feature, are extremely good. They offer additional ‘oomph’ that makes listening to music quiet entertaining. Apart from great sound quality, stereo subwoofers have plenty of benefits.

With a few good subwoofers installed in your room, you don’t need to sit at one particular spot to enjoy the music. Sit anywhere, and you will receive the same great sound.

Things Required:

– Analog sound meter

First of all, carefully analyse your room acoustics. Even the best subwoofer will sound ordinary, if you don't find a good spot for it.

You can analyse the room acoustics by placing one subwoofer near the centre. Use the analog sound metre to find out the spot where you get the highest reading.

After setting up the first one, use the same method to locate the best spot for the second woofer. The second spot may not give you the same reading due to the standing waves. There is nothing to worry about. Set up the second woofer where you get the highest reading, and take a seat to test the result.

Now, it is the time to calibrate the system. For this, you need to play the test tones through all available speakers. Try to adjust each speaker to match as closely as possible. Turn on the subwoofers one by one to match the readings.

After finishing with the reading and matching, take a seat and test the overall result. Sit at different places in your room, and see if there is any severe drop or rise in volume. If you find any problem of this nature, slightly adjust the direction of the subwoofers to fix the issue.
