How to Know When to Let Go

Love is without any doubt an extremely strong and beautiful feeling. It can make the world and everything in it look so much more beautiful. However, one can get really hurt when their love is not being reciprocated. Nobody wants to move away from the person they love, as it can make oneself feel lost.

It is really important to know when to let go of someone you love, since you will only find yourself getting hurt if you force yourself to cling on to a person who does not even care about you or your feelings.

The first thing that you need to take notice of is whether they have lost interest in your words and actions. If you words and actions had an effect on them before, but now they pretty much go unnoticed or seem to irritate your significant other, there is a strong possibility that they are no longer interested in you and that someone else has caught their eye. Before you jump to any conclusion though, it is really important to keep in mind that your significant other may have become a bit unresponsive and showing a lack of interest in you because of some stress.

Has your significant other become too short-tempered recently and begun fighting with you over petty issues? Do they give you a cold shoulder instead of being apologetic afterwards? There is a strong possibility that they are no longer attracted to you the way they once were. The attraction and love for you made them to overlook the petty issues, but since it is no longer there, nothing is stopping them from venting their anger, frustration and annoyance over something that you may have done that they did not like. Again, you need to remember that constant fighting is not a 100 percent proof of your significant other not being attracted to you any longer. Fighting is common among couples. Be sure to communicate after a fight.

Has your significant other begun to neglect you? This would typically happen when you cease to matter for your significant other. Are they ignoring your calls and not responding to your texts? Are they becoming distracted too frequently while you are trying to have a conversation with them? Are they spending more time with their friends than with you? Communicate how you feel about this to them and see if they change. If nothing changes, you probably have no reason to hang on to this person any longer.

Has your significant other stopped communicating with you the way they used to before? It is really important for constant communication between a couple for them to stay together and happy. If you two are no longer discussing problems, ideas and general stuff, maybe it is time to let go.

If someone begins to ditch you too often, know that they are not interested in maintaining the relationship. This includes not showing up for dates, breaking promises, showing no respect to commitments made to you, etc.
