How to Learn Music on a Keyboard

Almost everyone is attached to music in one way or other. There are people who create music and entertain others. There are also people who have been blissful with a very good ear for music but they do not know how to transform their inner melody into an alluring piece of music.

Learning music on a keyboard can be difficult if you do not know where to begin. However, with a little bit of patience and a lot of practice can make things easier for you. All you need to do is to get a keyboard and start playing.

    Understand the basics:

    You must do some research before starting. Browse the internet or buy a method book on music and you will know that there are only seven Octaves, also known as Saptak in Hindi, Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti. Remember, you can build a sky scraper only if the foundation is strong so try to understand the basics.

    Label the keys of Piano:

    After knowing the basics of music, you can make things more understandable by writing octaves on keys of your piano. Though, it will be difficult for you to read the label and press the right key but ultimately this exercise will produce amazing result and you will be able to play any music piece even with closed eyes.

    Start with simple scales:

    The most common mistake that people make is to start from the top. Remember, you always ascend from the bottom as there is nothing but descending after the maximum height. You should start with playing simple scales like C minor and gradually move to more complex scales like A major. Try to play two octaves using only your right hand and keep practicing until you get a grip.

    Practice broken Chords:

    By practicing Arpeggios or the broken chords, you can play like a professional musician. Initially, you will be playing only with one hand but you will be able to exercise both hands after some time. You will feel a significant difference in your technique and dexterity.

    Go deep:

    You won’t confine yourself to beginner level rather you should gain a deeper knowledge of a piano. Try to play complete music pieces and soon you will be able to create one.

    Stay consistent:

    You must follow a proper routine as learning music on a keyboard is a time taking process. Spare some time everyday to explore your inner melody.
