How to Load a GPX to a Garmin Device
GPX is a common file type used by GPS users to export the GPS data from their computers to GPS devices. So, if you want to export your data including routes, tracks, points of interest (POI) and way points, to your GPS device, then you can use this Global Exchange Format.
In the meantime, if you own Garmin as your GPS device, then you will have to install POI Loader in your computer, which is a software program designed to export different types of third-party GPS data, from your computer to Garmin.

You can download POI Loader directly from Garmin’s homepage. So, visit the website and locate the POI loader from the maps section.
Click the “Download POI Loader” text link. You will now be taken to the download page. Select the program version that is designed for your operating system and click the “Download” button.
For instance, if you are using Mac OS, then you will have to click “Download” button appearing against the POI Loader for Mac option. -

Once the file is completely downloaded, open the folder where it is saved and double click on it. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the program in your computer. When the onscreen prompt asks you to specify the location to install the program, you can click the “Browse” button and select a location where you want to save the installation files.
If you want the default settings, then it will get installed in the “Program Files” folder. During the installation process, do not connect your Garmin device to your computer, unless POI Loader installer instructs you to do so. -

To connect the Garmin device with your computer, you will have to use Garmin serial/USB cable that came with your device. Here, you should make sure that you only use Garmin serial/USB cable, or else, the POI Loader will not be able to detect your device.

Now copy and paste the GPX file into the “POI folder/directory” folder in your computer. You can locate the “POI folder/directory” by opening the “Start” menu and selecting POI Loader from the “Programs” section. From the list of options you can select the “POI folder/directory”.

Open POI Loader and make sure your Garmin device is connected. Follow the prompts after POI Loader recognises the GPX file that you just copied in the “POI folder/directory” folder, to import the data to your Garmin device.
