How to Lower a Mack Superliner

A Mack Superliner is a long-haul vehicle that is equipped with many facilities. It has air ride suspension, meant to give the driver and freight a comfortable journey. Above all, it can be deflated to lower the vehicle that it can easily get under a trailer. The lowering process is not a very difficult part of the vehicle operations unless you are completely new to it. Still, you just need a little bit search and you can get an idea of all the work you need to do to lower the Superliner.

    Locate Suspension Levelling Valve

    First of all you need to locate the suspension levelling valve, which is a rocker switch located on the dashboard of the vehicle. The rocker switch has two portions with 'Raise' printed on the upper portion and 'Lower' printed on the lower portion. Make sure you have disconnected the vehicle from performing either function. The safety of the vehicle, freight and most importantly the driver is essential, so take good care of this aspect while performing this function. Also, do not adjust the vehicle level if you are not going to use it for a while, or leave the vehicle unattended for any reason, which can risk a security and safety issue. Make sure you lock your vehicle before you leave as the rocker switch is not accessible to any unconcerned person.

    Press Lower Button

    Press the lower button softly and this will start lowering the vehicle down to the ground. Be assured about the purpose you want to lower the vehicle for. If you want to lower it to push back underneath trailer, then lower it to the maximum level until it touches the ground and then move back the vehicle under the trailer.

    Raise Button

    You can perform the vehicle raising function the way you have done the vehicle lowering one. Keep the raise button pressed until the vehicle achieves the maximum level. The is unique facility that Mack long-haul vehicles have, and they are very handy and give an ability to the driver to adjust the vehicle level according to the freight or for any other reasons. However, the safety element has to be considered by the drivers while performing the functions as compromising on safety can risk a casualty or damage to the vehicle.
