How to Make a Caramel Snack Mix

A Caramel Snack Mix is a deliciously crunchy mixture of chopped pecans, almonds, corn and rice cereal. The rich and velvety coating of butter, corn syrup and brown sugar nicely complements the overall taste of these amazing treats. Ingredients:
Butter: 1/2 cup
White corn syrup: 3/4 cup
Brown sugar: 1 cup packed
Chopped pecans: 1 cup
Almonds: 1 cup
Crispy corn and rice cereal: 1 package (about 12 ounce)

    First of all turn your oven on and preheat it to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C).

    Now, grab a large skillet or roasting pan and coat its base with some fine quality non-stick cooking spray as the coating mixture can stick to it and can burn. Making the caramel snack mix smelly. Set the sprayed pan aside for some time until the spray settles down well.

    Take an oven proof medium bowl and place 1 cup of butter in it.

    Top the butter with 3/4 cup of white corn syrup and 1 cup of packed brown sugar.

    Place the bowl in your microwave oven and switch it on at two minutes setting.

    Once the butter melts well, remove the bowl from oven and stir the mixture well with a spoon until the sugar dissolves completely and forms a heavy but smooth paste.

    Set the butter mixture aside, and add 1 cup of chopped pecans into the pre-coated skillet or roasting pan.

    Top the pecans with 1 cup of almonds and 1 package of crispy corn and rice cereal.

    Use a spoon to mix up the three ingredients thoroughly and then pour the butter mixture over it.

    Continue mixing until the almond mixture is finely coated in the butter paste.

    Evenly spread the mixture and place the skillet or roasting pan in the preheated oven.

    Now bake this mixture for at least one hour, making sure to stir it after every 10 to 15 minutes.

    Take out the pan or skillet from the oven and shift onto the cooling rack. Now until this mixture is cooling, make sure to stir is occasionally so that it doesn't harden in a large lump.

    Once cooled well, serve your caramel snack mix immediately or store in an air tight jar for later use.
