How to Make a Conference Call on Skype

One of the highlight features of the service is that Skype to Skype calls are completely free of charge. Calling landline and mobile numbers, however, are services that are charged.

Another feature that has made the service so popular among internet users is phone calls, which can be made with the utmost convenient, right from the comfort of one’s computer. Skype even allows users to make conference calls, i.e. have two or more people participate in a call.

Making a conference call on Skype is fairly simple, though first-time users may find themselves a bit lost. Fortunately, making the aforementioned type of calls is easy to learn.

    The first thing that you need to do is connect a microphone and speakers to the computer. Make sure that the computer is switched off while you are plugging in the two devices.

    Turn the computer on and wait for the operating system to load. Once you are on the desktop, ensure that the internet is working properly. You will need to get internet with decent bandwidth in order to have a smooth Skype experience.

    Launch Skype by double-clicking its icon on the desktop. If you do not have the application on your system, you can download it for free from its official website.

    Enter your username and password and click on the sign-in button.

    Once you have signed in, locate the “Contacts” tab in the main section on the application’s window and click it.

    Look for the contact that you want to place a call to and then double-click their name once you locate them.

    Next, locate the other contact that you want to add to the conference call and right-click their name to bring up the context menu. Select “Invite to Conference” from the menu to add the contact to the call.

    A conference call can also be made by holding down the “Ctrl” key on the keyboard while clicking the contact’s name on Skype. Once all the contacts that you wish to invite to the conference call are selected, click “Invite Selected Contacts to Conference Call” to initiate a conference call.
