How to Make a Detox Bath at Home

There are several ways to detoxify your body of impurities, but the most easy, effective and relaxing technique is to take a detoxification bath. By taking a Detox bath you allow your body to release toxins through pores and absorb minerals and nutrients that are in the water.

The best thing about a detox bath is that you don’t need to go to a spa or a medical centre to cleanse your body. This process only requires a few household items and less than an hour to complete. The detoxification bath taken at home also helps you relieve pain, fight stress and stop many internal infections.

Things Required:

– Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate)
– Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate/bicarbonate of soda)
– Large glass of cold water
– A bath tub
– Hot water
– Towel
– Skin brush (optional)
– Ginger, aromatherapy oils, herbs (optional)

Instructions

  • 1

Fill your tub with hot water. The temperature of the water should not be too high though.

  • 2

Add Epsom salt to the bath tub. Epsom salt (chemical name magnesium sulphate) is very inexpensive and can be bought from any nearby medical store. The salt combats hypertension and helps you replenish your body’s magnesium levels.

  • 3

Add a cup or two of baking soda to the bath tub and mix well. Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is known for its anti-fungal properties as well as cleansing ability.

  • 4

Add ginger powder to the tub. Whilst this step is optional, it would be better to keep ginger part of your detox bath, since it will increase your heat levels, helping your body sweat out toxins quickly and completely. Be careful with the amount of ginger powder, as it may cause slight redness on your skin. Starting from 1 tablespoon to 1/3 cup will be enough for a standard size bath tub.

  • 5

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and soak for 40 minutes. If you feel too hot, adjust the temperature by adding cold water.

  • 6

Get out of the bath tub slowly and carefully because the salts will make the tub a bit slippery. Wrap yourself in a bathing gown and dry yourself completely.
