How to Make a Glogg Cocktail

The Glogg Cocktail also known as Swedish Glogg is one of the most loved Swedish cocktails ever made and you can find it in almost all of the Swedish gatherings and parties, especially during Christmas and New Year eve celebrations. The drink is especially served with different types of Swedish feats, along with recipes made with fish. It is often considered as mulled wine as you have to cook the ingredients to prepare perfect Glogg cocktail. The ingredients that are used in Glogg Cocktail include red wine, brandy or vodka, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, orange peels, sugar and almonds etc. The preparation of this recipe involves some cooking so you need to be extra careful as there is fire and alcohol involved in the making process.

Utensils: Strainer or straining cloth, cooking pot, heating hob, serving jug or glasses

Ingredients:

– One bottle of red wine
– 10 cardamom pods
– ½ orange peels fresh or dried
– ½ cup raisins, ½ cup of almonds, 5 dried figs (optional stuff)
– 0.5 litre vodka or brandy
– 1 cinnamon stick
– ½ lbs. of regular sugar

    Take a large pot and add brandy spices in it along with bottle of red wine, almonds, dried figs and raisins and heat them well together.

    There is no need to boil the mixture, but you will need to simmer it for at least 45 minutes since boiling it will spoil the recipe and taste.

    Take a strainer or a straining cloth to pour the mixture in another pot, serving jug or glasses.

    Add regular or lumped sugar over the drink before serving. Your hot Swedish Glogg cocktail is ready to serve. Serve hot and mulled.
