How to Make a Lavender Eye Pillow
Lavender eye pillows can improve sleep and relieve anxiety in people with sleep disorders as the weight of a relatively small sized fabric soothes the eye muscles. Some people use these pillows to prevent light from disturbing them during their sleep, while migraine sufferers use these to relax. By following the steps mentioned in this article you can easily make your own lavender eye pillow in nearly half an hour.
Things Required:
– Fabric (any quality)
– Needle
– Thread
– Bowl
– Flaxseed
– Lavender
– Scissors
Instructions
-
1
You would first need a rectangular piece of fabric (7 to 9 inches).
-
2
If the cloth is roughly rectangular, you need to cut it with the help of scissors in a rectangular shape.
-
3
In order to sew the cloth you need to thread a needle.
-
4
With a straight stitch you now have to sew two nine-inch long sides together, making a nine-inch long tube, having two open ends of around three inches.
-
5
The perpendicular end, which is open, should now be stitched.
-
6
When you are done, it is time to tie off the thread.
-
7
Leaving the cloth tube, take a bowl and mix flaxseed and lavender in it.
-
8
With the mixture ready, go back to the fabric tube and turn it inside out to hide the seams.
-
9
Hold the fabric tube in your hand and with the other hand pour the flaxseed and lavender mixture from the bowl into your fabric until it is nearly full.
-
10
The pillow should not be stuffed entirely and should resemble a small bean bag.
-
11
Turn the open ends of the fabric inward by folding them towards one another.
-
12
You will now need pins to secure the seam.
-
13
Thread the needle once again if you have to and hand-sew the pinned area of the fabric with over sewing stitch.
-
14
Finish by tying off the end of the thread.
