How To Make a Moisturizing Oil with Lemon Verbena

Lemon Verbena, also known as Aloysia citrodora, is a perennial shrub or herbal shrub that has a light lemon scent. The 8 cm long glossy, pointed leaves are slightly rough when touched and sprays of tiny white flowers appear on it in the late spring or early summer.

This shrub, which has an enriched history that dates back to the 18th century, is commercially used as a fragrance in almost every cosmetic product including Lotions, shower gel, soaps, shampoo and many others.

However, its use is not only limited to cosmetic products, as it is also utilized in food products. There are several fish and poultry dishes, vegetable marinades, salad dressings, jam, pudding, greek yogurt and beverages that contain Lemon verbena. It is also used to make herbal tea or added to standard tea to add lemon flavour.

In addition, one can also make a simple moisturizing oil with Lemon Verbena, which is extremely good for skin and protects it from sun light.

Preparation time: 30 minutes.
Utensils: Glass container or bottle, cup, table spoon.

Ingredients:

– ½ cup of sesame oil
– 5 table spoons of cider vinegar
– 1 tea spoon of iodine
– 6 drops of essential oil of verbena

    Take a glass container, pottery or a bottle, and add ½ cup of sesame oil in it. Add 5 table spoons of cider vinegar to the sesame oil, and shake it well so that the oil and vinegar gels together completely.

    Now, add 1 tea spoon of iodine in the oil and vinegar mixture, and then add 6 drops of essential oil of verbena in it as well.

    Shake the bottle well until all the ingredients are properly gelled together, and close the lid or the cap of the bottle.
