How to Make a Mojito
The mojito (pronounced Mo-Heeto) is an extremely popular and tasty cocktail that originated from Cuba. It has become well known as a resort or vacation beverage due to its exotic yet simple flavouring and its ability refresh while also causing doing what cocktails are supposed to do.
Give them a try at your next get together, or simply the next beautiful day on the calendar that you decide to barbeque.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
Sugar: 2 teaspoons
Mint leaves: 8-10
Club soda
Lime: 1 cut in half (wash the exterior well before using)
White rum: 2 oz
Ice
Instructions
-
1
Mix It Up
Add the sugar and 6-8 mint leaves into your glass. Add a little bit of club soda as well. -
2
Muddle
A muddler is a small pestle-like device with a flat bottom that is used to crush ingredients and release flavours. If you have one handy, use it to mash the mint leaves at the bottom of the glass. If you do not have one handy, use a regular spoon and press the leaves to the bottom of your glass and rub back and forth for a similar effect. -
3
Squeeze and Drop
Squeeze both halves of your lime into the glass. Dispose of one half and throw the other half into the drink for added flavour and swagger. -
4
Add Fun…Add Rum
Add the rum to the glass and stir the ingredients well with your spoon. -
5
Ice and Soda
Add the desired amount of ice to your glass and top of the drink with more club soda. Stir the drink together well with your spoon once again.
Toss your 2 remaining mint leaves into the drink as a garnish. -
6
Enjoy
Your mojito is now ready to be consumed. Try picturing yourself in paradise (or at home) while sipping on your delicious concoction.
