How To Make a Redness Reducing Oatmeal Mask

Oatmeal is a simple and easy to use household ingredient for treating inflammation or redness of the skin. Whilst raw oatmeal is a popular skin exfoliant, cooked or colloidal oatmeal is a great way to sooth the skin and reduce inflammation and redness on your face. If you have red and itchy skin then go for a cooked oatmeal mask, as the jagged edges of raw oatmeal can further irritate sensitive skin. When combined with honey, the cooked oatmeal mask is even more effective treatment for itchy skin. Colloidal oatmeal is a great anti-inflammatory agent, while honey is an effective antiseptic.

    Prepare oatmeal

Take oatmeal of any brand available; however, make sure that you do not use flavoured varieties. Add lemon juice and water

Add few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the above mixture. Now add enough water to the concoction to make it easy to apply on face, however, avoid oversaturation with water, since this will make the mask run down your face. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly.

    Apply on your face

Once all the ingredients have been mixed thoroughly, apply this mixture on your face to create a layer of oatmeal using your hands. Let this mixture sit on your face for 15-20 minutes, or until the mask has dried completely. Rinse off with warm water and wash your face using regular cleanser. Tap dry with a soft washcloth.
