How to Make a Simple Taco Salad

This simple taco salad is effortless to prepare, yet luscious and nutritious. It is a delightful mash-up of ground beef, beans, green chilies, tomatoes, fresh romaine lettuce and cheese. The topping of broken crispy tortilla chips adds a crush texture to it. Utensils: Large skillet, spoon, strainer, bowls, 4 salad or serving plates

Ingredients:
Ground beef round: 1 lb
Beans in chili seasoned sauce: 1 can (about 16 ounce)
Chili powder: 1 teaspoon
Tomatoes  (diced, drained and liquid reserved): 1 can (about 10 ounce)
Green Chilies (drained and liquid reserved): 1 can
Romaine lettuce –(rinsed, drained and chopped): 6 cups
Cheddar cheese (shredded): 1 cup
Tortilla chips (broken): 1 ½ cups

Instructions

    Place 1 lb of ground beef round in a large skillet and stir cook it over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes or until nicely brown and no longer pinkish.

    Remove the skillet from heat and carefully drain off the fat in the form of liquid.

    Set the skillet back on the stove’s medium heat and add in one can of the beans in chili seasoned sauce.

    Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of chili powder over the top of the beef-bean mixture and mix well. Let it simmer for the next few seconds, reducing the heat range to medium-low range.

    In the mean time, drain the liquid from the canned tomato slices and drizzle it over the mixture. Increase the heat and stir cook the beef mixture for 2 to 3 more minutes until nicely hot and aromatic.

    Take away the skillet from the heat and set on your kitchen’s counter top.

    Spoon the warm beef mixture equally over romaine lettuce and top with the shredded cheddar cheese.

    Scatter the drained tomato slices, green chilies and broken tortilla chips over the cheese layer.
