Instructions

  • 1

Take a blank greeting card or grab a piece of card which is as big as you want your greetings to be. Mostly, 6 x 8 inches of a folded card will be perfect for you if you want to make a 3-D card.

  • 2

Grab a heavy white paper and start tracing a snowman on it. Try to use cardboard for this, as you want the snowman to pop out. The snowman you are trying to make should be smaller than your greeting card. Therefore, try to keep it small so that it can remain within the card and can also get folded with it.

  • 3

Use a black bold marker to outline the snowman once you are done making it.

  • 4

Now you can use different colours to give your snowman the perfect design.

  • 5

Use a ruler and draw two lines (both vertical) on both the sides of the snowman. Make sure they are at least two inches away from its edges.

  • 6

Now, use scissors to cut the snowman’s outline. Make sure you don’t cut the black parts as they should remain with the snowman that you are going to place inside the card.

  • 7

Leave the 2-inch long tabs which you made in the fifth step.

  • 8

Now vertically fold the snowman in half. Once you have made the perfect crease then unfold it. Make sure you make a sharp crease for the snowman.

  • 9

Now fold both the tabs on the sides by at least ½ an inch.

  • 10

Place the snowman right in the centre. Make sure that there is nothing sticking out when you fold the card. That will not only ruin the surprise but also ruin the shape of the snowman when you will put the card in an envelope.

  • 11

The tabs will determine how much you want the snowman to pop out, so be careful while selecting their length.

  • 12

Apply glue on the folded portion of both tabs. This will help the pop up shape to remain steady once the card is opened. Wait until the glue dries off.
