How to Make Add Motion Using Photoshop

Adding motion is great way to add some excitement to photos. If you have a long lens camera and you take pictures with very swift speed, you may end in freezing each motion in the scene. In such case, you can still add some motion and excitement to them, by using Adobe Photoshop.

You just need to open your picture in the Photoshop and add motion to some of the parts of the picture. As a result, it will appear as if the moment was captured with the motion. The process of adding motion to pictures is really easy, provided that you know the right process.

    Launch Adobe Photoshop and choose “Open” from the “File” menu. Now locate the picture to which you want to add motion. Select the image and click the “Open” button.

    In the layer tool box, you will see the New Layer Icon, an icon with a square in a square. You will have to drag and drop your image to that icon, in order to create a background layer of your image.

    From the “Filters” menu, choose “Blur”, then select “Motion” to add motion to your picture. You will now see your image turned completely blur. From the layer tool box, select the “Add Layer” mask, in order to add a layer mask over your image.

    Now you need to choose the brush tool and set the pixel size to around 75. Also, click on the black colour from the colour palette. The colour palette will have an icon of two squares, intersecting each other. You just need to click the black portion.

    Press and hold the left mouse button brush the areas which you want to un-blur. This will remove the motion effect from the brushed areas. Here, you should also make sure that the motion effect you added to the picture should complement with the overall theme of the image.

    Once you are done with adding motion to the picture, you can save it on your computer. Always try to save a new copy of the image after you make any changes to it. For that purpose, go to the “File” menu and select “Save As”. Specify a location/folder where you want to save the edited file. Click the “Save” button to save the picture.
