Download and install GIMP on your computer. You will need an image at first to create an animation out of it. Select any image file and open it up in GIMP.

  • 3

Select the ‘Filters’ menu and go to ‘Animation’ and ‘Waves’ tab to begin the real task. You will be able to choose the frames for your animation; more the frames, longer the animation becomes. It is appropriate to select about 10 frames at the beginning and keep the sequence short.

You can adjust the amplitude and wavelength of the animation through the waves control panel and experiment a bit to get the desired results. Click ‘OK’ button when you are done and go back to ‘Filters’, ‘Animation’ and ‘Playback’ options to view your animation.

Don’t forget to add the text for the title of your movie but make sure you are done with the animation at first because otherwise, the text will also become wavy. Click on the ‘Text’ tool and click to the spot you need to insert the title text.

You can alter the font, colour and other text attributes while adding the text to your animation. Once you are done with the text, your image will be ready for the final frame of your animation.

Save your animation by clicking on the ‘Save As’ button present in the ‘File’ menu. You will have a couple of options to select the format of your animation and it is suggested to choose the GIF type.
