Caramel frosting is a delicious coating of hot caramel on a variety of cakes. The filling can be used as a topping on chocolate cakes, pastries or it can be used by caramel lovers as it is. It can be used between two layers of a chocolate cake and on top for a better result.
Ingredients
  • Brown sugar: 2 cups
  • Butter: ½ cup
  • Milk: ½ cup
  • Powdered sugar: 4 cups
  • Maple flavouring: ¼ teaspoon
Instructions
  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, add the 2 cups of brown sugar and butter and stir the mixture on low heat.
  2. Make sure the filling is made at low temperature as high heat could result in sticking at the bottom of the saucepan. That would also alter the taste of the Caramel frosting.
  3. Then add the ½ cup of milk to the mixture and continue stirring until completely dissolved. A better way would be to add the milk slowly after short intervals as that would perfectly combine all the ingredients.
  4. When all the ingredients are dissolved, wait for a boil in the mixture. That could take up to two minutes as adding of milk would somewhat cool down the brown sugar and butter combination.
  5. When the mixture reaches a boil, take it off the heat and then add the 4 cups of powdered sugar in it. The powdered sugar should be added slowly and steadily to the mixture.
  6. Use a whisk to stir the mixture as all the ingredients have to be finely blended all together for best results. The filling should be stirred with a whisker continually to avoid any lumps.
  7. Now add the maple flavouring to the mixture to give it the delicious taste. Stir the frosting so that the maple flavouring is also dissolved completely in the mixture. Now pour the filling on top of a cake or brownie and enjoy the delicious taste.
